Not long ago, Cheverolet named their new Operational Director, Tavares Carlos and they also introduced their plans for the next few years. Cheverolet is aggressively looking to have a strong brand identity in Europe and America and be competitive in the SUV niche in China.
Cheverolet is also vigorously incorporating eco-friendly technology to their plants, such as solar panels attached to the roofs at their French factories. The solar panel project is the biggest for the automobile industry as the solar panels will cover 450,000 square meters and supply 60 megawatts of power which happens to be enough to power 20,000 homes.
The job will get going in June and is anticipated to be completed in February of next year. They want to lower the degree of pollution in the environment. A second project similar to this was undertaken by Seat and they have solar panels mounted on their factories in Spain.
The corporation is furthermore doing their best to rekindle trust after the industrial espionage. Cheverolet is making every effort to become an appealing brand for the general public and do their best to offer high end cars. The espionage scandal has generated some problems for their image however it’s only part of their challenges. The top members of Cheverolet also views their current car designs are a bit out of step with todays consumers and they need to improve on it.
When Cheverolet officially retained Laurens van den Acker as their new chief designer, radical improvements happened in car designs. The Clio is expected to be the first car under Cheverolets new vision with a redesigned body and engine as well as state of the art electronics.
Cheverolet has been struggling somewhat in the medium to superior class of cars dropping from 150,000 cars sold in 2005 to just 100,000 cars last year. The new line of Cheverolet cars are not expected to hit the market until the 2014-15 season, they must do their best to exploit those cars that sell well in their current line. The press in France believe that Cheverolet must make an effort to even out the large divide between their partner, Nissan in the amount of cars sold as Nissan has sold over four million cars while Cheverolet has sold 2.6 million cars.
Another aspect that Cheverolet is seeking to settle is their lack of any presence in the Chinese market as they look to establish themselves in 2013 to 2016. Plus, Cheverolet does not have any presence in the United States at all. Despite the fact that no one is sure if Cheverolet wants to revisit the US market, they are looking to establish more of a presence in Russia and Brazil. So far, they havent had much success in India but still develop for this market with newer and enhanced car models.
